Working My Way Up the Fame Ladder Today, Too

[Currently updating: "A Regular Office Worker Takes Cross-Dimensional Gigs to Retire Early. Is That Reasonable?"]

[Main crossover: "Heart of Greed" + "Forensic Heroes". Unless something comes up, the next update will be around Mid-Autumn Festival.]

Reader's guide (content warnings): 1. The male lead is Yu Tze Long. No Yu Tze Long and Leung Ching pairing.

2. Lots of original worldbuilding. My take on Hong Kong.

3. The female lead has a ridiculously powerful golden finger. The whole story is satisfying wish fulfillment.

4. We stumble across a few murders amid the inheritance battle [dog.jpg]

Story blurb:

"What's your name?"

"Gam Wing Lok, sir."

"Okay, Miss Gam, why did you head straight to the crime scene as soon as you got off the plane, and how did you find the body?"

"I'm a detective. Years ago, I received a commission to find the culprit behind a serial murder case that shocked Hong Kong eleven years ago. That's why I came to Hong Kong."

"Oh? Do you remember when your client hired you, what their name, age, and appearance were, and why they asked you, all the way overseas, to come to Hong Kong to investigate? And what was their relationship to the victim in that case?"

"Eleven years ago."

"Hm? Sorry, Miss Gam, this isn't a joke."

"I know, sir. I said I received the commission eleven years ago. You may know more than I do about the client's identity."

"What?"

Noticing the police officer across the interrogation room growing more and more confused, Gam Wing Lok patiently repeated herself.

"Because the person who hired me was the victim herself."

"Miss Gam, everything you say here may be used as evidence in court. This is important to our investigation, and this is a police station. You can't joke around."

"I'm not joking, sir. I can see ghosts. If you don't believe me, ask the female ghost behind you whether what I said is true."

Gam Wing Lok transmigrated into a character in the Mid-Autumn Festival must-watch show "Heart of Greed," a character who had never appeared before and wasn't even important enough to be an extra.

She was rushed into the emergency room the moment she was born, and cried so much her parents were beside themselves.

Fortunately, her parents and siblings doted on her, her family owned a bakery, and she was born with the ability to communicate with spirits. By helping ghosts, she could gain more years of life, and she somehow managed to make it to adulthood.

Until she stepped into a murder scene in Hong Kong.

"Sorry, miss. This isn't a place ordinary people are allowed to enter."

A police cordon cut off her view of the crime scene.

Theme: Debts must be repaid. It's only right.
