Fang He lost her mother when she was very young, then her father when she was eleven. Fortunately, Jiang's mother took pity on her and brought her home to raise as a future daughter-in-law.

That was the first time she met Jiang Huaixu.

The young boy had bright eyes and red lips. Though he was young, he already had a scholar's pride, and he was a handsome little gentleman.

Fang He blushed and accepted her new role.

The boy, however, wasn't very fond of her.

For no reason at all, he disliked her and her alone.

At first Fang He didn't take it to heart. That is, until the day the boy skipped school and came home in the rain, eyes red as he smashed things in a frenzy and pointed at her, shouting, "I don't like you, and I won't marry you. Don't get any delusions!"

Fang He didn't answer. She only crouched to pick up the broken pieces and softly replied, "All right."

After that, she was simply Jiang Jinyue of the Jiang family, Jiang Huaixu's older sister.

That was what she thought.

But later, he took hold of her sleeve, his usually clear, gentle eyes full of grievance as he pleaded, "Sister, I was wrong."

1. A slice-of-life story that begins when the leads are children (she is eleven and he is eight). Before adulthood, their feelings are mostly admiration and dependence. Their relationship only changes after they grow up.

2. The setting is almost entirely fictional (99%), with a very slight Song-dynasty flavor (1%). Please don't nitpick historical details.

3. The plot serves the romance. It's a sweet little treat, and I hope everyone enjoys it~

Xiao Zhu was a bodyguard who wandered from place to place. A fortune-teller had said he was cursed to be alone, destined to bring misfortune to his family and friends, with no loved ones to rely on.

Anyone who got close to him would be unlucky.

Xiao Zhu hadn't believed it at first.

But later, when the village was burned down and he rescued Yu Zaozao from a starving man, he believed.

He told her he had few family ties and was fated to be a lone wolf.

She blinked innocently and annoyed him with her reply: "I don't understand."

He sighed and put it more plainly. "I'm a jinx."

"Ohhh."

Xiao Zhu closed his eyes, waiting for her to leave.

The silence lasted only a moment before the girl's voice reached his ears again. "Xiao Zhu, I just asked the King of Hell. He said I'm tough as nails, so I'm not afraid."

Xiao Zhu turned to look at her. After a long moment, he slowly broke into a smile and answered, "All right."

Later, no matter how chaotic the world became, he never once let go of her.
