Straight guy x male ghost
Cheng Yan, an incoming freshman at a prestigious university, came from a wealthy family, yet had an incurable illness that modern medicine could do nothing about.
After being told he had less than three months to live, he decided to try anything, throwing himself into a strange, isolated mountain village in search of the legendary "miracle cure."
There, he met a gloomy boy dressed in strange clothes. Cheng Yan put on his most practiced harmless smile and offered him imported chocolate. "Could you take me back with you?"
The boy didn't take it. Instead, he grabbed Cheng Yan by the wrist and snatched the red cord he'd worn since childhood.
"You're about to die," the boy said, staring straight at him. "I have a way to save you."
His one chance at survival was to marry the village's towering stone statue and become the guardian deity's "bride."
Cheng Yan: "..."
Fine. As long as he could stay alive, marrying a rock was better than sleeping with a coffin lid.
So, dressed in a bright red bridal gown, he kissed the statue's cold lips, grumbling furiously to himself:
Were even the gods repressed these days?
He never expected that the statue wasn't a guardian deity at all, but a fallen god who had once disturbed the peace of the world and then fallen asleep out of sheer boredom.
After the wedding, he took his duties seriously, serving meals to his stone-statue "husband" every day. "It's ready-made food today. You'll have to make do."
Before drawing in his mobile game, he'd even sidle over to touch the statue's hand. "Lend me some divine luck. Don't be stingy."
The ridiculous thing was, his illness really did get better day by day. His complexion grew rosy, and even his beautiful muscle definition returned.
But then came bizarre dreams that haunted him night after night, with a cold sensation always enveloping him...
The day he recovered, Cheng Yan fled the village in a panic, and accidentally cracked the statue as he escaped.
Beneath the mask, the statue's cold, hard lips seemed to curl into a faint smile.
Back home, he discovered that the nightmares had only just begun.
The first strange thing was the red cord he'd lost, glimpsed around his therapist's wrist;
Every night, in his dreams, something crept over him inch by inch, forcing him to whimper and tremble in his sleep, tears soaking his pillow... When he awoke the next morning, scissors lay beside the bed, and his pajama bottoms had been cut open in a humiliating slit;
He tried sleeping with someone else, only to be punished even more severely that night. When he woke, he found a pair of silver rings had been put on him, like ornaments marking him as someone's possession:
At last, he broke down and wrote a challenge on his abs with a permanent marker: "If you have the guts, do it to me face-to-face."
And then the god really did descend upon a crowded bus. Under the stares of numb passengers, an invisible force squeezed him mercilessly into a shrinking space. His legs trembled, but no one noticed.
[The wedding vows had already offered your body, mind, and soul to Him.]
Terrified, Cheng Yan paid a huge sum to hire an expert to drive out the evil spirit.
But halfway through the ritual, the Taoist priest's eyes suddenly went wild. He repeatedly kowtowed to the space behind Cheng Yan, shouting:
"This humble one was blind and offended Your Excellency!"
The next second, a pair of cold arms wrapped around him from behind, and the familiar voice of the boy whispered eerily in his ear:
"Why run? Didn't you marry me properly, as my lawful bride?"
What he thought was "salvation" had been a carefully planned hunt targeting him from the very beginning.
