How Is My Top Donor a Guy?

A penny-pinching streamer who's all talk but bends for money, paired with a filthy-rich, sharp-tongued top donor

Ning Buyi is supposedly a poor university student who livestreams video games to earn his living expenses. That's the persona he's created.

In reality, he's just a high school dropout, so broke that he's spending the night at an internet cafe. The attendant gives him a suggestion. "You're so good-looking. Can you play games?"

Ning Buyi nods. He can play Happy Match.

The attendant falls silent, but still points him in the right direction.

"Listen to me. Here's what you're going to do."

So he starts streaming the most popular MOBA game in an internet cafe booth. His persona and handsome face win him plenty of sympathy, and his stream gradually takes off.

A haughty, rich young lady with a sharp tongue joins his stream.

"You're so bad at this."

Ning Buyi is just about to retort when the top donor sends him a gift. He swallows his words.

"Send me a crowdfunding link for your medical bills. I think there's something wrong with your brain."

Ning Buyi is about to speak again, but the top donor sends ten gifts. The words on the tip of his tongue turn into a smile.

"Use the money I sent you to hire a top-ranked pro to play for you, okay? You're unbelievably bad."

Ning Buyi clenches his fists, ready to speak, but the top donor boosts his stream to number one in popularity. His fists unclench.

After being showered with money and insults by the top donor, Ning Buyi has accepted it all with perfect calm. Just kidding. He's still furious.

When he discovers that the top donor also visits other people's streams, Ning Buyi follows the internet cafe attendant's advice. He adds Zhu Yanhe and starts sharing bits of his daily life with his patron.

He sends a picture of breakfast, and his patron calls it pig slop and sends him money.

He sends a picture of the scenery, and his patron says he's standing closer to people than to the camera, then sends him money.

He sends a photo, and his patron says his clothes are so ugly they'll make people go blind, then sends him money.

Since this way of making money is even easier than streaming, he messages Zhu Yanhe every day, receiving transfers from his patron until his hands are sore. The two naturally start an online relationship.

When the top donor asks to meet in person, Ning Buyi happily agrees. When he arrives, he's stunned. Nobody told him his top donor and online girlfriend was a man!!!

Before Ning Buyi can make it out the door, a devilish whisper sounds behind him.

"You're a high school student, a dropout, and the ID you used to register for your stream isn't yours, right?"

"You know that's illegal, don't you? I can report every transfer I sent you as fraud and get it back, ba-by."

Ning Buyi originally plans to repay the money and get away, but his patron tosses him a bank card. "If you're broke, why not find a rich person to keep you?"

He may be poor, but he's not a...!

His patron clicks his tongue and tosses him a black card with no spending limit.

"Wasn't saving up to buy a house the whole reason you were doing this?"

Who cares whether he's a man or not? This is my boyfriend!

And, in another sense, he's got more money than he could ever spend.
