The Disciple’s Game

The whole world is obsessed with the gods. I alone refuse to kneel.

Because I am the offering presented to Him.

At the festival, the god descended. Billions of disciples prostrated themselves in a frenzy, while I alone stood my ground.

"Why won't you kneel?"

"Because I don't want to."

Amusement filled His eyes. He granted me "freedom" and casually wiped the memories of all living beings. From then on, no one remembered that I had been an offering.

But the freedom I gained came at the price of a clear-eyed loneliness.

I tried to kill myself several times, but failed, until a man named Wen Che appeared.

He was dazzlingly beautiful and unbearably clingy. He knew everything I liked, as if he had been born for me.

But I knew he was the supreme god.

He thought this was a game of descending into the mortal world, never realizing that I had already seen through his disguise.

"The whole world is your disciple, learning to be obsessed with you."

I reached up, grabbed Him by the collar, and our breaths mingled.

"But you..."

"Are my disciple now."
