The Grassland Border Collie and the German Shepherd from the City

Xingren was a black-and-white Border Collie born and raised on the Hulunbuir Grasslands. When he was just a month old, his owner would carry him around while checking the pasture, and he got to know the lambs.

At three months old, he ruled the pasture, had three dogs as his underlings, and scared every lamb.

At six months old, he had become a capable sheepdog. He could lead his underlings to herd the sheep on his own, and he bravely drove off a pack of wolves, becoming a legendary little dog of the grasslands.

One day, a man came to his owner's home, bringing along a German Shepherd named Huanye.

Xingren had never seen a puppy more handsome than himself. Curious, he went over and sniffed him. He smelled so good, unlike any other puppy Xingren had ever met.

Huanye was the same age as Xingren, but aloof and distant. He ignored Xingren, seeming to look down on a puppy raised on the grasslands.

Xingren puffed out his chest and stalked off in a huff. He wasn't impressed by city dogs, either.

He was a legendary little dog who could drive off wolves! Unlike a city dog like Huanye, who would surely be scared to tears at the sight of a wolf pack!

Huanye and the man settled in. His owner even urged Xingren and his three underlings not to leave Huanye out, but Xingren pretended not to understand. He wasn't going to be a suck-up.

Then one night, the hateful wolves came to steal the lambs again, and Xingren charged into the pack with his underlings.

But there were too many wolves this time, and one of them bit his hind leg.

Just as he thought he was done for, a figure suddenly rushed over and sank its teeth into the vicious wolf's neck.

Xingren was saved.

Huanye had saved him.

Xingren wasn't a suck-up, but he was a good little dog who knew how to repay a kindness.

So even when Huanye ignored him, Xingren still went over to invite him to play. He taught him how to herd sheep and patrol the pasture, and kept snuggling up to him.

Thanks to Xingren's tireless efforts, Huanye changed.

He started grooming Xingren, sleeping curled up beside him, and giving Xingren the big chicken legs their owner handed out. He even got mad when other dogs cuddled up to Xingren.

Xingren decided they were the very best of dog friends. Although Huanye could be a little possessive, Xingren still decided to be his best dog friend for life.

But just then, the man left and took Huanye with him.

Xingren ran after the car for a long way...
