Piano Keys [Hong Kong Showbiz]

In the years just after she started dating the heir to a Hong Kong tycoon, Jiang Nian was hopelessly in love. She worked hard to learn Cantonese, practiced cooking every day, and studied etiquette to prepare for marrying into a wealthy family, but the day they would register their marriage never came.

Then one day, she happened to visit his villa and saw a piano in the study.

She said, "I can't play the piano. Will you teach me?"

He shook his head. "Ni di piano m hou dak." (You can't touch this piano.)

Only then did Jiang Nian learn that it had been left behind by his first love, who had gone abroad.

All these years, he had carried an open wound in his heart.

Many years after they broke up.

On a rainy, humid night, he cornered her in the villa, pressing her step by step.

She retreated, her eyes reddening. "You have a piano now. Why won't you leave me alone?"

He turned and went back into the study. With a crash, he smashed something, swift and clean, as if breaking with an old memory.

He tossed aside the hammer and smiled, bright and cold.

"See? Don't look for another excuse to run away."
