A Golden Retriever Falls into a Fox's Den

As the team's ace hitter, Hoshino Akina stands 190 centimeters tall. His serves are fierce, his receives steady, and his sets razor-sharp.

On the court, he's an all-around player who dominates every play and leaves countless opponents in despair. Off the court, though, he's a crybaby handful who has a huge argument every three days and a little squabble every day, always clinging to his senpai and demanding affection.

Today he's upset because the convenience store ran out of plums. Tomorrow it's because his senpai didn't praise him for scoring with a serve. The day after that, he loses focus during a practice match and misses a ball hit right at him... Almost every day, he's sporting teary, fried-egg eyes.

What gives his teammates the biggest headache is how recklessly he plays, and how he makes a habit of tormenting his own setter.

Teammates: ...Could you stop setting the ball for the setter to spike it?!!

Akina: (in disbelief) But the setter spiking is so cool!!

There's one more thing that makes his teammates worry: he's always upgrading and evolving on the fly.

The strange new plays he comes up with on the court keep his opponents scrambling, while his teammates suffer right alongside them.

When the coach scolds him for playing too recklessly, he looks completely innocent. "What's the point of winning easily if there's no fun in it?"

Teammates: ...Geniuses are so infuriating!!!

Reader's guide:

* The hitter has cheat-level talent and excels at hitting, defense, and setting, but he's also unpredictable. He plays volleyball for fun, not to win.

* Dependable on the court (maybe), but an immature, affectionate crybaby off it. A sweet boy with golden hair and golden eyes.

* This is an early blurb and will be revised. The setting is tentatively Inarizaki, and the pairing is tentatively Kita.

Theme: Life is full of challenges and fun
