Father-in-Law

Lai Xiaoyu, a poor country boy, never imagined he could marry into the Liao family.

Outsiders gossiped that he was climbing the social ladder and living off his wife's money, but he didn't care. He kept the house in order every day, hoping only for a peaceful, stable life.

But just four months into the marriage, his wife suddenly asked for a divorce. Even Liao Dong, his father-in-law, who used to shield him from drinking and treat him like his own son, coldly said only, "I won't interfere."

The divorce was swift. Lai Xiaoyu left the Liao family in disgrace, and his life sank into darkness.

Only when Liao Dong pinned him down in a car with one hand around his throat, his palm frighteningly hot, did he find himself trapped in the cramped passenger seat and staring into a pair of unfathomably deep eyes. That's when he finally saw Liao Dong's true face.

The word "Dad," which he had said countless times, caught in his throat and wouldn't come out. Only soft, broken breaths escaped him.

Later, he was forced to become his former father-in-law's lover.
