Louis had only two wishes in life: first, to be a normal person; second, to become a world-famous painter.
The first wish seemed a little difficult to fulfill, so Louis decided to work on the second one first.
He had money, free time, and decent talent. He was definitely capable of...
[Dice: Check your stats before you say that.]
Louis: ...
[Dice: Painting 20. Recommend giving up immediately.]
Louis thought human talent couldn't be measured so superficially with numbers.
With the help of a kind big bat, Louis finally managed to run away from home and reached Gotham, the city of sin on the other side of the ocean.
The bizarre supervillains here made Louis feel right at home. It was practically the perfect place to gather inspiration for his art. He absolutely loved it here!
The big bat watched helplessly as his friend marched straight into the asylum. Hey, wait a second!
Many years later, Louis still had an [Art 20] stat, but he had become a world-famous painter. He'd said those stats were bogus!
[Dice: Is it possible your fame has absolutely nothing to do with your work?]
Louis, who had scored a critical success and won a crowbar 1 vs. n fight: Impossible! Absolutely impossible!
Reader's Guide:
1. Will there be OOC? You bet! There are tons of headcanons. If something feels off, it's probably a headcanon. If different adaptations have different takes on the same issue, I'll pick the version I like best.
2. Male protagonist, no romance.
3. Not friendly to villains. Very unfriendly, in fact. Villains get no breathing room.
4. Based on the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition rulebook, but with tons of house rules.
5. All the stats come from dice rolls by the author, though I'll fudge them if necessary.
6. The Lovecraftian flavor is fairly mild.
7. The characters' values don't represent the author's values. With all the corruption, you can bet there'll be some truly unhinged people.
