Countless practitioners have fallen into trouble at this level, their ambitions have been flattened by their livelihood, and they have since become ordinary people, never knowing the Tao again. But Qingxuan always remembered his original intention. Even if he was running around all day, he would light a lamp and sit quietly for half a moment late at night, leaving a trace of Taoism in his exhaustion. He understood clearly in his heart: food and clothing are the foundation of human beings, and cultivation is not about hiding from the world and starving. The true Taoist heart is to remain unwilling to give up the true heart in the midst of the suffering of life, and not to be completely buried by the fireworks and dust. In this test, Qingxuan Shouxin passed the test. The second test is to invite the elders to stop. Between the dilemma, countless monks will choose to succumb to family ties and secular world, and then return to the world. Qingxuan knew well that filial piety was his duty, and he never disobeyed his elders. He took good care of his aunt, spoke frankly about his devotion to Taoism, and fulfilled his duty as a junior with all his heart, but he never wavered in his ambition to practice Buddhism. He realized that spiritual practice is by no means abandoning family members and betraying the world. The true Taoist heart is to fulfill one's filial piety, establish one's career, and abide by one's duties while still retaining the fire of spiritual practice in one's heart, taking both sides into account, and being impartial and impartial. Qingxuan passed these two tests calmly. The third trial is entangled in love. Seeing that he was determined, his aunt established a good relationship with him in the village. There was a gentle woman from a neighboring village with a kind heart who often came to the mountains to bring him tea and food and take care of his daily life. The two got along day and night, knew and cherished each other, and developed a pure friendship. The neighbors praised the two as a perfect match and advised him to live together in peace. The bondage of love in the mortal world is one of the biggest difficulties in spiritual practice. Everyone in the world is trapped in family, friendship, and love. They insist on staying together and cannot let go of the fetters of obsession. Too many monks are obsessed with warmth and love, and have since become addicted to the world of mortals and have wasted their careers. Qingxuan appreciated the woman's kindness and cherished this friendship. He treated others sincerely and gently, but he never had any thoughts of possessiveness. He understands that deep love does not need to bind, and friendship does not need to be indulged. The warmth of human feelings is the goodwill of the world, but it is not a snare that binds the Taoist heart. He treats each other calmly, goes with the flow, never gives up, and keeps his true heart in warmth. These three tests can be passed with a clear mind and a clear mind. The four trials are a trap for fame and fortune. After several years of practice, Qingxuan has a clear mind, good conduct, and understands medical skills and pharmacology. He often goes down the mountain to provide free medical consultations and solve problems for the people. Over time, everyone within a hundred miles praised him, praising him as a master of Taoism and a true immortal who helped the world. Countless people came here to give him gifts, pray for blessings, and study as teachers. Various praises and titles came one after another. Everyone regarded him as a virtuous man. Vain fame and wealth are the most irritating. Everyone in the world loves to be admired and covets vanity. Once they gain fame, they will easily become arrogant and lose their true self. Many monks have been practicing hard for many years, but they have not been defeated by suffering, but they have been ruined by vain fame and glitz, and have been blinded by praise. Since then, they have been fighting for fame and glory, and their Taoist hearts have been dusted. Qingxuan is always calm in the face of thousands of followers. He knows very well that saving people and helping the world is the duty of spiritual practice, the praise of the people is mundane and vain, and the title and reputation are all external things. No matter how much the world praises him, he still lives a simple life, practices meditation, does not covet fame, does not pursue superficial gains, and always maintains his true colors. In these four trials, Qingxuan Shouchuo passed. Five tests bring disaster. Just when Qingxuan's Taoist mind was gradually stabilizing, disaster struck from heaven. An epidemic broke out in the mountains, and Qingxuan accidentally contracted a serious illness. He suffered from high fever, body ulcers, and almost died. A serious illness depleted the savings he had accumulated over the years, and his body was severely damaged. His usually clear state of mind was tortured by the illness and became agitated and depressed. Misfortunes never come singly. The cave where he lived happened to be washed away by a flash flood. Most of his savings, scriptures and artifacts were destroyed, and several years of hard work were wiped out in one fell swoop. Fortunes and misfortunes in life are impermanent, and natural disasters, illnesses, and accidental disasters are all normal in this world. Countless practitioners have a firm mind on the Tao when things go smoothly. However, once they encounter disaster and lose everything, they become resentful and give up practicing, feeling that the way of heaven is unfair and the way is false. Qingxuan was lying on the hospital bed, suffering from illness, gains and losses, but he never gave up. He silently recuperated his body, reorganized his cave, and settled his mind in a desperate situation. He realized that the Tao has its ups and downs, and suffering is the fire that tempers the Taoist heart. Losing external objects is not scary. Keeping the original heart and not changing it is rebirth in desperate situations. These five tests are difficult to pass in the Qingxuan calendar. The six tests are bound by the blind teacher. After recovering from a serious illness, Qingxuan went out to travel and gain experience, and met a famous hermit. This person has thousands of disciples and a huge reputation. The method of practice he talks about seems mysterious and profound, but in fact he is biased and deviates from the right path. He is a false teacher who misleads his disciples. All his disciples blindly believed in him and did not dare to question him at all. They followed him all day long to practice heresy. On the road of spiritual practice, it is very important to seek guidance from teachers. Countless monks spend their entire lives practicing, but they are trapped in blindly following authority and superstitious teachers. They never stick to their true intentions and think independently, and eventually go astray and waste their lives. Seeing that Qingxuan's mind was outstanding, the false teacher took him under his wing, forcibly instilled biased ideas, restricted his practice, and required him to abandon his original intention and blindly follow his teachings. Qing Xuanjing carefully screened it, and realized that his way was vain and paranoid and went against his true heart. He did not blindly follow the other party because of his famous reputation. He adhered to the right path of his own practice and did not let himself be coerced by the words of false teachers. He distinguished right from wrong and good from evil with his own heart. He resolutely said goodbye to false teachers and practiced alone. These six tests are passed by Qingxuan Mingjing. The seventh test is to discuss the differences. After leaving the sect of the false master, Qingxuan traveled around various monastic sects and saw that there were many sects in the world with different Taoist methods. Each sect claimed to be authentic and belittled other sects, and there were constant disputes and quarrels all day long. The disciples are all obsessed with the faults of the sect and the quality of the sect. They criticize and slander each other. They indulge in arguing about right and wrong all day long, but they have no intention to meditate and practice and polish their true intentions. The most taboo thing in practice is to be stubborn and argumentative. Too many monks spend their whole lives arguing about the superiority of sects and the right and wrong of Taoism and Dharma. They are motivated by a competitive spirit and are obsessed with winning or losing with words. In the end, they waste their practice, putting the cart before the horse and wasting time. Qingxuan stayed in the midst of disputes, never participated in sectarian debates, and did not adhere to sectarian prejudices. He is well aware that there are thousands of Taoism and different paths leading to the same destination, and what he cultivates is his own heart, not words and sect orthodoxy. While others argue endlessly, he calms down and understands the truth, without following the crowd or holding on to right and wrong. Qingxuan passed these seven tests quietly. Eight tests indicate laziness of will. As time goes by, I have been practicing Qingxuan for more than ten years. There are no shocking adventures or extraordinary visions. Every day is an ordinary task of chanting sutras, sitting in meditation, doing good deeds, and self-reflection. The dull practice day after day has faded away the passion and enthusiasm of entering the Taoism for the first time. No one applauds or recognizes him. Some of the monks around him have become famous in the world, and some have achieved enlightenment, but he has always been ordinary and unknown. Long-term practice is the easiest way to breed laziness. The enthusiasm and ambition at the beginning will eventually be worn away by the dullness day after day. Thousands of monks start with enthusiasm and end up slacking off. Without supervision or praise, they become lazy and give up halfway. Qingxuan also felt tired and felt that practice was boring and boring. But he alerted his heart in time and understood that there are no shortcuts to the road. It is easy to make a big move in a moment, but it is difficult to stick to it day after day. Cultivation is never about winning applause from others, but about perfecting one's own original intention. From then on, he still insisted on doing his daily homework, being careful and guarding his heart, and never slacked off for a moment. Qingxuan Hengshou passed these eight tests. Nine tests are wasted years. Half a lifetime of practice passed by in a blink of an eye, and Qingxuan gradually developed a desire to procrastinate and be lazy. Occasionally, when I have distracting thoughts in my mind, I am relieved that I have a long time to come, and I postpone today's fatigue to tomorrow. I always think of making up for the unfinished homework today. Procrastination and waiting are the most annoying thing. Everyone in the world is trapped in the "future is too long". They always feel that time is abundant, and they waste their time wantonly, pushing all their cultivation, self-cultivation, and good deeds to the future. Countless monks have practiced throughout their lives and have never been defeated by the temptation of suffering, but they have been destroyed by wasted years. Year after year of procrastination and waiting, day after day wasted time, in the end, the hair turns gray, accomplishes nothing, and leaves a lifetime of regrets. Qingxuan suddenly realized that the road never waits for others, and the years never come back again. The so-called future is long, but they are all deceiving themselves. Cultivation is important in the present moment. If you wake up to a thought, practice immediately. If you are slack for a moment, you will regress. From then on, he cut off his obsession with procrastination, cherished every inch of time, worked hard every day, and reflected on himself all the time, so as to live up to his time and his original intention. Qingxuan passed these nine tests successfully. I have gone through all the nine major trials, and I have passed through all the trials in the world. One early morning, the rays of light diffused into the Bluestone Valley. The master who had been wandering in the past returned and saw that Qingxuan's mind was clear and his heart was pure. He had maintained the avenue amidst the smoke and fire of the world, and had not sunk in all kinds of trials. He couldn't help nodding and smiling: "The so-called avenue, no matter what." No matter how deep the mountain is, it doesn't matter how high or low the method is. If you can survive the hardships of food and clothing, the shackles of family ties, the entanglement of love, and the temptations of fame and fortune, and be able to survive disasters and tribulations, misdirection by false teachers, disputes, laziness and waste, and keep your original intention and establish your true nature, you are truly enlightened." Since then, Qingxuan has been stationed in Qingshi Valley, using his nine-test experience to transform the world. The world knows that true cultivation is never about living in seclusion and escaping from the mortal world. It is about living in the world of mortals, keeping your heart in mind, and tempering your true self in the nine trials of the world, and finally becoming the great road.
