Tell the Moonlit Scenery of West Lake

(Both leads are natives of this world; neither is reborn, but there is a transmigrated supporting female character.)

(A beauty from Jiangnan and a young marquis from Bianjing)

After the second branch of the Deng family lost their matriarch, the Deng clan returned to Qiantang to attend the funeral.

Deng Kun, the most accomplished grandson of the first branch, returned home for the funeral. Zheng Duo, a young nobleman from Bianjing and his good friend, happened to be in Qiantang and went to pay his respects to the Deng family.

Beneath the corridors of the Deng residence, Zheng Duo encountered Deng Lingcan, Deng Kun's cousin, and fell in love at first sight. But Lingcan had been promised in marriage since childhood, and the wedding was fast approaching.

Unable to forget Lingcan, Zheng Duo befriended her brother and tried every means to engineer chance encounters, all to win her favor. He also secretly investigated Lingcan's fiance, hoping to break off their engagement.

Lingcan was born in Qiantang, a place blessed with remarkable beauty and talent. Outsiders said the Deng family was a family of officials that passed down a tradition of poetry and scholarship, and that the whole clan lived in harmony. But in the third branch of the Deng family, Lingcan's birth mother had died young, her father had remarried, and her stepmother was unkind.

Lingcan had an older brother, but he was mild and soft-hearted, unable to protect his sister. She also had a younger sister who was still growing up and needed Lingcan's protection.

Only by bristling with thorns within the inner household could Lingcan keep herself and her sister safe.

Just as her wedding date with the Xu family was about to be set, she received a letter breaking off the engagement.

Everyone laughed that she would never find a good match. Little did they know, someone had been waiting for her for a long time, amid the glow of lanterns.
