Everyone in My Sect Is Honest Except Me

Ye Tan is a cultivation prodigy. Her sect may be tucked away in a remote place, with few people around and just over thirty members in all, none of them particularly accomplished, including her master. Still, everyone in the sect says Ye Tan is a once-in-a-century cultivation genius who is sure to ascend and become the first in their sect to achieve immortality. Hearing their constant praise, Ye Tan believes them. She practices hard, teases her mediocre fellow disciples, and brazenly insists that the sect's founding principles are far too tolerant, wanting to change “good” to “evil.” She imagines becoming the sect's pillar and the first to ascend, then leading her fellow disciples to glory so that even their chickens and dogs rise to heaven, while she tramples the supposedly greatest sect under heaven, Qingyang Sect, and makes hers the greatest sect in the world. But this obscure little sect, hidden in remote mountains, with few disciples and meager cultivation, has nothing left but its members' kindness and generosity. It is wiped out overnight, leaving only Ye Tan, nineteen and yet to complete her ascension, and seven-year-old Ye Liang. Twenty-nine new graves dot the mountainside. Ye Tan's carefree, happy days are gone for good. Taking seven-year-old Ye Liang with her, she descends the mountain to hunt down those who destroyed their sect.
