The Peach Immortal and the Young Scholar's Country Life

[Transmigration + farming + rural life + medicine and pharmaceuticals] [Beautiful village girl & loyal live-in son-in-law, mutually faithful] After her mother died, Ye Yiyu took her place and became the “Peach Immortal Maiden” of Ye Tao Village. What does the Peach Immortal Maiden do? Every year, when the villagers hold a sacrifice to the century-old peach tree at the village entrance, she stands before them as a “mascot,” then pretends to bless everyone. Of course, there are some benefits. At least after the ceremony, Ye Yiyu, as the Peach Immortal Maiden, gets a piece of good meat. The villagers envy her for this, but even so, none of them tries to take her place. That’s because Ye Tao Village has followed a rule for more than a century: a woman who serves as the “Peach Immortal Maiden” cannot marry out of the village and can only take a live-in son-in-law. Ye Yiyu’s mother had no choice but to take a live-in son-in-law; Ye Yiyu is glad the rule exists. After transmigrating to a remote but picturesque village in the Jiangnan hills, Ye Yiyu is very satisfied. She’ll find herself a live-in son-in-law, grow vegetables and flowers, practice medicine and make remedies to earn a little money, and live her ideal pastoral life with green mountains behind her and a stream before her. (Mostly everyday life, with a slower pace. Farming is the main focus, with making medicine as a sideline. No golden finger, and she won’t become an official or vie for supremacy later on.)
