National Destiny Game: This System Is a Little Too Weird

It’s the third year of the National Destiny dungeon challenge, and Dragon Nation has only five slots left. Lin Xiaoman, a nineteen-year-old girl terrified of ghosts, is forced to become a contestant. The good news: she gets a System. The bad news: it’s a lucky-charm model that only hands out random, useless bits of luck each day, like “You’re guaranteed to land on a soft cushion if you fall today” or “Your curses will turn into bubbles today.”

“Help! There are ghosts in the dungeon!”

System: [Ding! Lucky-charm effect triggered: “The ghost will have nightmares tonight.” Host, sleep easy.]

Lin Xiaoman: “???”

Her teammates:

Lu Chenzhou (former special forces soldier): “I’ll handle the fighting. You just make sure you don’t cry the ghosts into submission.”

Gu Yanzhi (folklore professor): “According to my research, the ghosts in this dungeon are afraid of… Hey, don’t pour luosifen over the altar!”

Su Tangtang (former esports support player): “Don’t be scared. I brought an egg beater. We can whip it into cream.”

Zhou Ye (sprinting champion): “Sis, I can run faster than a ghost, but could you stop drinking soup on my back? My neck’s getting wet.”

The global livestream begins. Contestants from other countries are fighting for their lives, while Dragon Nation’s stream has a rather different vibe: the whole team picnics in the dungeon, bickers, drives ghosts away with luosifen, and treats the supernatural like NPCs while grilling them about their family registers.

Viewers: “We came to watch the National Destiny game, not a comedy show!”

Then they quietly top up their accounts and send donations.
