Adapted from the novel of the same name by Ji Liushang, the drama tells the story of Ning Yue, a public-interest lawyer who discovers that her husband, Hu Cheng, cheated on her while she was pregnant. Ning Yue decides to divorce him, break free from the constraints of family life, enter society, and realize her personal worth.
