The Iron-Blooded Han General Wei Qing

He spent ten years tending horses and twenty years fighting wars.

A fire in Longcheng gave rise to the first man of the Han dynasty to reach the Xiongnu's sacred site of ritual sacrifice.

The court officials all called him a “nepotistic upstart.” Seven victories in seven battles shut them all up.

But he won on the battlefield and lost the people closest to him.

Zhu Fuyan was boiled alive in a five-cauldron execution. Li Guang took his own life to atone for his crime. Huo Qubing said, “Uncle, the waters of the desert sea are bitter...”

In the end, he returned to the place where he had once tended horses and said to her, “Your Highness, I have nothing left now.”

She replied, “You still have me.”

From horse groom to general to Marquis of Changping, his life was a legend of the Han dynasty.
