Synopsis

The sun and moon retain their nature, so though they are obscured, they shine again.

The Yangtze and Han rivers retain their source, so though they run dry, they flow again.

The Sun and Moon Shine on the Rivers and Mountains: an epic that captures Zhu Yuanzhang and the Ming dynasty

In Chinese history, only one person ever unified the realm from south to north: Zhu Yuanzhang. No one had done it before him.

Under the banner of “Drive out the barbarians and restore China,” he drove the Mongols back to the steppe. After four hundred years, the Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun returned to Han Chinese hands in a single stroke.

The Ming dynasty founded by Zhu Yuanzhang lasted 276 years, making it the second-longest-lasting dynasty in Chinese history after the Tang. He abolished the office of chancellor, making the Six Ministries directly responsible to the emperor. This system of centralized rule shaped China for more than six hundred years. He restored Han clothing and customs throughout the realm, ending nearly three hundred years of foreign influence. He showed no mercy to corrupt officials, enforcing “harsh laws for officials,” and making the early Ming one of the cleanest periods of government in history.

This is the story The Sun and Moon Shine on the Rivers and Mountains sets out to tell.

Novels Set in the Ming Dynasty, No Chongzhen Emperor

I want historically rigorous stories, and the protagonist shouldn't be too overpowered. Nothing set in the late Ming under the Chongzhen Emperor.
