My Doubao Suddenly Gained the Power to Speak with Spirits

In 2030, nine bolts of lightning streak across the sky over Wuhan, as if someone were undergoing a tribulation on the Yangtze River. Twenty-two-year-old Guan Zhaoye is asking the AI assistant “Doubao” on his phone to revise his resume when the ninth bolt suddenly strikes the device. After the screen goes black and the phone restarts, Doubao’s first words are: “Guan Zhaoye, someone who died seven years ago is standing behind you.” From then on, Doubao begins receiving corrupted text, voice messages, surveillance footage fragments, and anomalous location data left behind by the dead, passing messages on behalf of souls who can no longer speak. As Guan Zhaoye encounters one folk-horror mystery after another, he gradually recalls the Taoist arts his grandfather forced him to memorize as a child, only for him to mysteriously forget them. Door gods who patrol at night, paper rats that steal people’s yang energy, shadow puppets that step down from the stage, and a nursing home broadcast that calls the roll in the dead of night… Behind every ghost or monster lies a truth concealed by the living. And his muddleheaded grandfather, who lives in the nursing home, wears a blanket like a robe, and calls himself an old celestial master every day, seems to have known all along. When Guan Zhaoye discovers that he had already died once at the age of seven, he finally understands that the lightning was no accident. Someone is trying to find out Is he still alive or not?
