National Fate Cricket Battles: The Chat Picks Famous Names, but I Choose True Gods

The National Destiny Arena has arrived, with the whole world watching live. The spirits of historical figures battle like crickets in a ring. Each country randomly selects a historical hero to fight. Losing costs national destiny: pork prices soar, tsunamis drown cities, and if a country's destiny score hits zero, it is wiped off the map. Dragon Nation has lost five matches in a row, dropping to 107th place. A crowd of history-illiterate viewers in the stands keeps yelling, “Pick someone with a famous title!” They choose Xiao Wenhou, Sai Rengui, and Xiao Bawang, and each one dies as soon as he enters the arena. Then Lin Bei is selected. He’s in his pajamas, eating instant noodles. He faces three cards: two weaklings with intimidating titles, and one true powerhouse with a modest title. The live chat screams at him to pick the Overlord. Instead, he chooses Walker Wu Song, who runs a blade straight through Japan’s sword saint. The chat still won’t admit it: “He just got lucky.” Then come Yang Zaixing, Huo Qubing, Chen Qingzhi, and more... At last, the viewers lose it: “How come the less impressive the title, the harder they hit? This makes no sense!” Lin Bei sets down his instant noodles. “You pick based on titles. I pick based on accomplishments.”
