The Stand-In Never Gets Into Character

Wen Yu is Yushi Entertainment’s “most heavily promoted” contracted star. Rumor has it that the Yu family’s heir apparent, Yu Shijin, is backing her, but no one has ever found proof.

For two years, she played the pure white jasmine Yu Shijin cherished, a stand-in for his first love, Lin Zhiwei. He poured S-tier resources into her, and she accommodated his private schedule. Without ever saying it aloud, they maintained an intimate relationship packaged as a business contract.

That is, until Lin Zhiwei returned to China. Wen Yu didn’t cry or make a scene. Instead, she handed him a “Contract Termination and Settlement Statement”: “Playing the obedient star for 24 months, 5,000 yuan per hour; accommodating your private schedule 108 times, 540,000 yuan in overtime; compensation for emotional distress… 11.52 million yuan in total. Mr. Yu, settle the bill and we’re even.”

When they met again, she was a sharp-edged, popular star, eating mango cake right in front of him and sizzling with a top-tier star as they faked a romance for publicity. He cornered her against the wall, but she calmly finished her mango juice. “Mr. Yu, the greenhouse flower you knew is dead. I eat mangoes now, and I have thorns.”

Only then did he realize he was the one who had fallen first. Wen Yu said, “The one who falls first loses, and I’ve already turned my heart to stone.”
