Poppies and White Roses

Xu Wanxing was once the most treasured white rose in the Golden Triangle. Her father adored her, and “Brother Aye” was the light in her heart. Until the day she watched Lin Ye’s bullet pierce her father’s brow with her own eyes. “Spare Wanxing” were her father’s final words. Her pure white world crumbled in an instant.

After five years lying low, she transformed into the fearsome “Poppy Queen.” Disguised as a substitute teacher, she carefully laid her plans, targeting Lin Ye’s greatest weakness: his beloved younger brother, Lin Yang.

At an abandoned pier, the sea wind keened. When the gun was pressed to Lin Yang’s temple, the flames of revenge began to waver the instant she saw the anguish in Lin Ye’s eyes.

“Bang!”

The gunshot split the long night, but she was the one who fell. Warm blood stained Lin Ye’s police badge. With the last of her strength, she pressed her lips to his bloodied ear:

“Lin Ye… I love you.”

The white rose withering in his arms never did get to bloom beneath the sunlight.
