Using Science to Shatter Divine Rule: The Duke of Tang and His Rebellious Son Defy Heaven

[Tang Dynasty + Journey to the West + Technology Versus Magic + Long Live the People]

Qin Ke transmigrates into the Xuanwu Gate coup with an entire ultra-modern laboratory, falls from the sky, and crushes Li Jiancheng to death. He becomes a founding duke with the merit of having supported the new emperor.

Qin Ke assumes that, having transmigrated, he will help the strongest carbon-based life-form of the century propel the Tang Dynasty to the heights of the Industrial Age.

But when a construction crew digs a tunnel through Five Elements Mountain, one shovel turns up something round and red, with a springy, almost jelly-like texture. If it weren't so hard when they dug at it with their shovels, Qin Ke would have sworn it looked just like a monkey's butt.

As Qin Ke wonders what it is, a sinister voice comes from above:

“Mortal, were you the one who just poked my butt?”

Qin Ke freezes, his hand still on a dog's butt. “Who? Who's talking?”

Sun Wukong realizes that Qin Ke can dig his way through Five Elements Mountain.

Overjoyed to be freed ahead of schedule, Sun Wukong immediately turns against Tathagata and hoists his Golden-Banded Staff. He becomes Qin Ke's head of security on the spot.

The moment Sun Wukong is freed, the nationally celebrated scientist who transmigrated to another world is dumbfounded:

“Holy crap! This isn't history I've transmigrated into. It's Journey to the West!”

Daily life for the people of the Tang Dynasty:

“If worshipping Buddha worked, we wouldn't even be able to get through the temple gates. We have to believe in science.”

“Born in the land of the Tang, raised in the spring breeze. The people have faith.”

When the gods and Buddhas discover that humanity has mastered everything from artificial rain and cloud seeding to aerospace technology, the Celestial Court panics.

The Buddhist realm falls into chaos.

As faith plummets, the gods and Buddhas of every heaven rage: “What kind of fiend dares steal our fortune?”

Qin Ke: “Old Li, one punch will open the way and keep a hundred more from coming. How about we launch an interstellar ballistic missile to show them our strength?”
