The Mystic Nine: The Hanging Coffin Heavenly Book

After Grandpa died, he left behind a letter with just one word: Return. Chen Ran rushed back overnight to Jiumen Town in southern Sichuan for the funeral, but inside his grandfather's coffin he felt half of a bronze tiger tally. The nine families of tomb guardians in town appeared all at once, forcing him to lead them up Hanging Coffin Cliff. The "Heavenly Book" appeared at the summit once every three hundred years. Now a crack had opened to the wind, and if they didn't retrieve it soon, it would crumble to dust. The rule of the Nine Gates was clear: only someone of the Chen bloodline could climb to the summit. But the moment he stepped onto the thousand-year-old plank road, a chorus of whispers came from the hanging coffins overhead: "Chen Ran, your grandpa died on the very stone slab beneath your feet." The first line of the Heavenly Book gave the exact time he had arrived that day. Blood seeped from the broken edge of the tiger tally, drop by drop, flowing into the cracks of a stone door three hundred meters below the cliff. Something behind the stone door called his name. It wasn't a ghost. It was something that feared him turning back even more than a ghost did.
