Strange Tales of a Mountain Village: One Ledger to Suppress a Hundred Ghosts

I’m in a mountain village, and I’ve just gotten my hands on a ledger.

I thought this battered old book was an antique. I never expected it to be a deadly collection notice from the underworld!

“The Li family has owed a hundred years of debts to the dead. Collect at once, or suffer the backlash!”

Chen Jiu stares pensively at the Ten Thousand Spirits Ledger in his hands.

Who’s he supposed to collect from? Li Futian, the village tycoon who throws his weight around?

To stay alive, Chen Jiu has no choice but to hit hard.

And so the usually arrogant Li tycoon ends up smashing his head against the ground, crying and begging for mercy in front of a dry well.

Chen Jiu thinks it’s over, but when he turns the page, the debtors listed next are even more outrageous.

A headless corpse in a mass grave, a geomantic formation in the provincial capital, a living corpse in a century-old temple...

Chen Jiu: “Seriously, I’m just a bookkeeper. Why do every vengeful ghost in the world go out of their way to avoid me now?!”

“Hey, you thousand-year-old ghost over there! Time to pay up on those thirty years of interest!”
