Mad Prince, Please Be Gentle With Me

She was the legitimate daughter of the Lin family. Her father was a respected leader among the court's upright officials, and she had been raised in a family steeped in scholarship. Gentle and dignified, she rescued a bloodied young man while fleeing and gave him half a bowl of warm water. Clutching a broken sword, he stared at her and rasped, "What's your name?" She answered, "Lin Xieyue."

Only later did she learn that he was the orphaned son of the Marquis of Dingcheng and Princess Chaoyang. He lost his parents at two and was raised like a precious treasure by the emperor. The world called him the "Phoenix Yama King": bloodthirsty, savage, and feared by all.

Later, disaster struck the Lin family. Her parents were both killed, and she fled alone to the northern frontier to seek refuge with her elder brother. On the thirty-seventh day of her desperate journey, she met him for the second time. Amid mountains of corpses, he stood atop a mound of bodies, drenched in blood like a god of slaughter. She offered him the last half-piece of her dry rations. "...Do you still remember me?"

Feng Qi looked up and recognized her. The hand gripping his sword trembled violently. His first words were, "Who hurt you?"

She remembered those words for two lifetimes.

In her previous life, she had ultimately failed to take his hand. The entire Lin family was slaughtered, and she died from poisoned wine in the Cold Palace. That madman whom everyone feared risked his life to gather the bones of her entire family, guarded their grave for three years, then finally raised an army for revenge and died in battle before her tomb.

Reborn, she returned to the thirteenth month of her life as a dependent in another's household. Her uncle was cruel, her half-sister set traps for her, and everyone in the manor waited to see how far she would fall. Only Feng Qi, heedless of society's condemnation, came to her in person and shielded her in front of everyone. He said just one thing: "Come with me."

Everyone said the Marquis of Dingcheng was a mad dog, biting anyone he saw.
