Journey to the West: Gods and Buddhas Panic at the Monster Inside Tang Sanzang

Li Xuan transmigrates into Journey to the West and binds himself to the [Eternal Imperial Way] System, but unexpectedly becomes a “parasitic demon soul” deep within Tang Sanzang’s consciousness.

On the surface, Tang Sanzang is so helpless he couldn’t even fight off a chicken, and every time he sees a demon, he’s so frightened he falls off his horse. In reality, Li Xuan is busy exploiting Buddhism for all it’s worth, taking Heavenly merit for free and forging an unrivaled imperial body!

At the foot of Five Elements Mountain, Sun Wukong opens his Fiery Golden Eyes, intending to size up the Pilgrim, but is so terrified that a chill runs down his spine.

He sees no compassionate Golden Cicada. Instead, inside Tang Sanzang sits an unrivaled Demon Emperor who can crush stars with a casual squeeze!

Wukong promptly switches sides. “To hell with Buddhism! My lord, Old Sun is willing to brave fire and water for you, generation after generation!”

And so, the whole tone of Journey to the West changes completely.

The gods and Buddhas are sweating buckets. “Buddha, this is terrible! The Bull Demon King and Red Boy are completely off script. They’ve all gone and knelt before Tang Sanzang, pledging their allegiance!”

As the Tathagata and the Jade Emperor frantically divine the secrets of Heaven, they discover to their horror that a forbidden being, more terrifying than the ancient Demon Ancestor, is lurking inside Tang Sanzang!

Before the Great Thunderclap Temple, the Tathagata is just about to claim the merit.

Suddenly, Tang Sanzang’s phantom body vanishes with a thunderous crash. Clad in the imperial robes of ten thousand worlds, Li Xuan steps out after shattering the void. Behind him, Sun Wukong tears off his disguise, while billions of demon kings recruited during the Eighty-One Tribulations blot out the sky and bow as one.

“Your servants welcome Your Majesty to the throne. Let us raze Spirit Mountain!”

On this day, all the gods and Buddhas are so terrified that they fall to their knees!
