The Dragon Abyss: The Road Home

Two years ago, during a cross-border ambush overseas, sixteen of the seventeen members of the Dragon Abyss Special Operations Unit, the Dragon Kingdom’s elite special forces team, were killed in the wilderness. The battle-hardened unit, every member of it at the Earth Rank or above, was wiped out overnight. Only its captain, Lu Chen, and team member Lin Chuxia survived.

His Heaven Rank cultivation vanished in an instant, and the chains of his fame shattered. Once feared by overseas dark forces as the leader of Dragon Abyss, Lu Chen became a broken man, drifting through a border town in southern Vietnam.

He drank until he blacked out, survived by fighting in underground boxing matches, and wasted his days wandering the streets. He used foul language to disguise his numbness and a debauched lifestyle to conceal the guilt and loneliness in his heart. Others saw only a down-and-out hoodlum. No one knew that this smoke-stained man squatting by the roadside had once stood at the peak of the martial world and been the strongest soldier protecting his country’s borders.

The ambush that wiped out the entire team was never an accident.

The minefield was laid with pinpoint precision, the landing coordinates had been identified in advance, and every channel for calling for help had been cut off. Everything pointed to a disturbing leak from within. Carrying the injustice done to the sixteen fallen heroes, Lin Chuxia spent two years investigating across borders alone. Clutching fragments of evidence, she scoured the borderlands, determined to tear open the vast conspiracy concealed within the military’s upper ranks.

Rain fell on the border as old comrades reunited.

One had exiled himself and wasted half a lifetime, while the other was consumed by an obsession she had never abandoned.

The disbanded Dragon Abyss unit, the souls of sixteen brothers, a warning Lin Yuan never got to deliver, and a deep-buried blood feud forced Lu Chen, after two years of decay, to rise from the mire and wake from his numbness.

Together, they would settle old debts with broken bodies and unravel the mystery with nothing but their courage.
