Bureau 749: The Hidden World of Humanity

A senior history major at a top-tier 985 university in Shanghai inherits a diary and a copper token engraved with “749” after his grandfather dies. He finds himself repeatedly experiencing “time slips”: he’ll zone out in a corridor for a few minutes, only to wake up and discover that evening has arrived. Shen Tingxue, an investigator from the Shanghai branch of Bureau 749, finds him and tells him that his grandfather was no ordinary man, but a “Night Watcher.” Lu Zheng discovers that his family’s old house is a secret contact station for Bureau 749, and that the copper token he inherited is the Night Watchers’ insignia.
