The Faux Canary

Canary × art appraiser | fake painting × true feelings | mature leads | both have past sexual experience | stealing someone’s partner | happy ending To raise enough money for her gravely ill younger brother’s surgery, Li Sheng, a top art forger, marries Gu Zechuan, a rising tech tycoon who fell in love with her at first sight. She becomes the “work of art” he is proudest of. For three years of marriage, she plays the role of an innocent, gentle, beautiful flower that depends on others. Then she discovers that Gu Zechuan has used her “dowry,” a fake ancient painting she forged herself, to win over another woman. That night, she enters Beicheng’s most mysterious private club, the Observatory, ready to sell another “masterpiece,” a supposedly one-of-a-kind original that she forged, to a buyer who knows how to spot quality. But she is cornered in a darkroom by the club’s owner, her husband’s “friend,” and a top art appraiser, Fu Yanci. His fingertips brush over the scroll as if caressing her skin. His perceptive eyes brim with amusement. “Mrs. Gu, using a fake to fish for a buyer. Are you trying to swindle both the money and the man?” The next second, he leans close to her ear, his scorching breath branding her earlobe. “Selling paintings is too slow if you want revenge. How about we make a more thrilling deal? For instance, getting him to deliver his own ‘masterpiece’ to my bed with his own hands?”
