Great Ming: I Took the Fall at Coal Hill and Became a Tyrant

In the seventeenth year of Chongzhen’s reign, Li Zicheng breached the capital, and the Ming dynasty stood on the brink of collapse.

Chen Ce, a veteran special forces soldier, transmigrates into the body of a low-ranking city guard. To stay alive, he fights his way through the enemy lines and heads straight for Coal Hill, planning to save Chongzhen and use him as a “lifeline.”

But by the time he arrives, Chongzhen has already breathed his last on a crooked-neck tree.

Looking at the rebel troops slaughtering their way through the city and the emperor growing cold beside him, Chen Ce makes a decision that defies his ancestors:

He strips off Chongzhen’s dragon robe and puts it on himself!

“Eunuch Wang, from this moment on, I’m not dead. I am the Son of Heaven of the Great Ming!”

The head eunuch, Wang Cheng’en, is stunned, and the entire court goes mad!

Because they discover that Chongzhen, once weak, suspicious, and obsessed with saving face, has suddenly become a foul-mouthed, sword-wielding, ruthless iron-blooded tyrant, more sinister and ruthless than Wei Zhongxian!

When faced with the Donglin faction, who never stop preaching benevolence and righteousness, he draws his sword in court and chops off the Grand Secretary’s head, then confiscates his estate to raise money.

Against the rebel army and the Manchus, he rebuilds the Ming firearms corps with modern tactics and crushes them with superior technology.

The corrupt officials of the court weep and plead, “Your Majesty, we must not violate the ancestral laws!”

Chen Ce wipes the blood from his blade and sneers. “The blade in my hand is the ancestral law!”
