The Great Qing: I, Li Duanfen, Founded a University from the Start

[Historical + Late Qing Dynasty + Political Intrigue + Education for National Strength + Industry + Feel-Good] Li Duanfen wakes up one morning to discover he has transmigrated to the late Qing Dynasty, becoming the reform-minded official from history who founded the Imperial University of Peking. From the start, he faces a corrupt court and an era of chaos on the horizon. It’s truly a world-shattering crisis! While others are still grinding away at the rigid eight-legged essays, he’s already setting up modern schools. While others are still bowing and scraping to foreigners, the students he trains have already built powerful ships and cannons. He promotes Liang Qichao, befriends Zhang Zhidong, tears into Weng Tonghe, and sidelines Empress Dowager Cixi! From a tiny local academy to the world-famous Imperial University of Peking. Short on talent? Li Duanfen beckons, and the greatest minds in the land flock to him! Short on military funds? Li Duanfen makes a move, and silver pours in by the truckload! The foreign powers provoke China? Li Duanfen’s students shoulder modern rifles and beat them until they’re crying for mercy! Every day, one conservative minister frets, “Lord Li is far too mild-mannered. What will happen if the foreigners bully him?” His many students: “...” Do you misunderstand what “mild-mannered” means, or what it means to be the “bane of the foreign powers”? Only then do people realize that this teacher, who constantly preaches benevolence and righteousness, is the most terrifying player in this age!
