But, as with every story about transmigration to another world, Ling also died suddenly while playing a game. Then, under the name Ling von Einzbern, she bewilderedly joined this unusual Holy Grail War. Unlike the Fourth Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City, there were fourteen Masters and fourteen Servants, divided into two factions: Red and Black. The Mage's Association, represented by Kotomine Kirei, betrayed the Clock Tower and planned to take the Holy Grail for themselves. They used the Grail system to summon seven Servants, while the Clock Tower exploited the Greater Grail's "emergency mechanism" to summon another seven Servants from a different faction. The Holy Grail itself also summoned a Servant of a special class: Ruler. That was all it was supposed to be. But the link between the Holy Grail and Penacony's Holy Grail brought forth Saber [Caelus], Caster [Sunday], Lancer [Dan Heng], Archer [March 7th], Assassin [La Mancha], Rider [Acheron], Berserker [Sam], And Ruler [?] The Fifth Holy Grail War. The Grail that could grant any wish was within reach. And Ling's wish was to become a hero of justice...? "Now, let our war begin. Saber, go!"
