Sunken in the Deep: The CEO’s Wife Has Turned Dark

A case of a socialite, Jiang Wanqing, falling to her death by the river on a rainy night in Jiangcheng shatters her life completely. Her fiance, Lu Yanjin, is convinced she murdered his first love, Lin Muxue. He personally sends her to prison, leaving behind a cold order: “Make sure she’s well taken care of.”

After three years in prison, tormented by the System and subjected to a kidney transplant she supposedly “consented” to, Jiang Wanqing goes from a proud jewel to a prisoner broken in body and spirit. On the day she is released, she smiles at Lu Yanjin and confesses to the crime: “I killed Lin Muxue.” By then, Lu Yanjin already holds fragments of the truth: she may be innocent.

A belated search begins in a small seaside town. By the time Lu Yanjin finds her, she is already terminally ill. Calmly, she refuses his attempt to atone by giving his life for hers: “My body has carried too many things that don’t belong to me. Let it be free.”

When she stops breathing in his arms, he finally understands: once some mistakes have been made, even the hope of atonement is a luxury. He destroyed her world, and the long loneliness of the rest of his life will be his eternal sentence.

“I once used love to condemn you. Now I sentence myself to a lifetime of punishment.”
