Marry the Regent First, Plot with Him Later

Born into this world, Xie Mingwei has spent fifteen years believing she's been cast as a frail young lady.

Until her reborn half-sister sneers at her bedside:

“This time, your talent, your marriage, your everything... will all belong to me.”

Xie Mingwei lowers her eyes and smiles.

Then she invites the obscure tutor who teaches music, chess, calligraphy, and painting to come see her.

No one knows that this unassuming man in a worn blue robe, Mr. Su, will one day become the regent who holds the court in his grasp.

Later, the border is under threat, and the defense map is leaked.

Casting aside her ladylike persona, Xie Mingwei breaks into the prince's estate at night and lays a revised map before him:

“Your Highness, I'll help you ascend the throne if you kill someone for me.”

As candlelight flickers, he grips her chin and draws close:

“Why should a mere concubine's daughter get her hands dirty?”

His fingertip brushes her lips, and his low laugh is intoxicating:

“Why not think about... which child you're going to give me tonight?”

Everyone says the regent keeps a beauty hidden away in a golden house.

But no one knows what he has hidden away is the sharpest blade in all the land.
