The Top Scholar in Red

In the Great Jing Dynasty, the new emperor Xiao Che ascends the throne with ruthless resolve, purging the former dynasty’s old forces. Yet he shows exceptional favor to Su Qingyan, the new top scholar. No one knows that this dazzling young scholar is actually the daughter of the former dynasty’s chancellor, disguised as a man and serving at court to overthrow the new regime and avenge her family. Still less does anyone know that Xiao Che saw through her disguise long ago, and is playing along to draw her into his trap. At court, they are ruler and minister, locked in opposition: he tests her at every turn, while she stays on guard. Within the palace, they are enemies who distrust each other: he conceals his murderous intent, while she waits for her chance. But when all hope seems lost, they become the only people each can trust to watch their back. When national vengeance collides with love, and the fate of the realm takes precedence over personal grievances, will they stand side by side or turn their swords on each other?
