Springtime at the Little Shop

Lin Xiaobei lost his job when his company laid off staff. Despondent, he happened upon a small storefront that was up for sale. Deciding to take a chance, he used his savings to rent it and opened a little shop called “North Alley,” selling handicrafts and coffee.

In the early days of starting his business, Lin Xiaobei faced all kinds of challenges: few customers, tight finances, pressure from competitors… But he refused to give up. He promoted the shop on social media and engaged with customers, gradually building up a loyal clientele. He also teamed up with Su Qing, the owner of the flower shop next door, to offer “coffee and bouquet” packages, drawing in more young customers.

As the shop grew more popular, Lin Xiaobei not only achieved financial independence but also made many like-minded friends. He gradually realized that running a shop was about more than making a living: it was an expression of his love for life and all he wanted from it.
