Honghuang: The Beloved, Frail Yuanshi

Who knows how many myriad eons had passed when, deep in the primordial world, a wisp of the faintest, lightest pure qi stirred ever so slightly. It was the very first source of pure qi to condense when heaven and earth were first created, so clean it held not the slightest trace of violence, soft as snow and crisp as frost. Yet it was born frail. While the other two mighty, surging masses of qi in the same domain grew and flourished, growing ever stronger and more unruly, it remained a drifting wisp of spiritual essence. It could not form bones or take shape, and even stretching its spirit would drain its source. This wisp of pure spirit would one day be Yuanshi. For now, it still slumbered, its constitution frail from birth, its Dao foundation easily shattered and its soul quick to tire. The other two sources had already begun to develop faint signs of life. One was steady and ancient, warm and composed: the future Taishang Laozi. The other was wild and unrestrained, proud and passionate: the future Shangqing Tongtian. The three spirits shared the same origin. Since the beginning of primordial chaos, their heartlines had been connected, and they could sense one another from afar.
