Journey to the West: My Dad Is the Jade Emperor

In a nutshell: I transmigrated into an ordinary man and picked up an amnesiac old man who claimed to be the Jade Emperor and said he wanted to lead me in a rebellion.

Zhao Lang transmigrated. No System, no golden finger, no immortal master, only an amnesiac old man he'd found in the mountains. The old man kept babbling: “Old Lord... elixir... poison... I won't let you get away with this...” Zhao Lang thought he'd hit his head, took him as his godfather, named him Zhao Zheng, and planned to farm, raise fish, and coast through life in the mortal world.

But then his bargain-basement father could spot flaws in formations just by squatting beside a field, advise on raising city walls by three zhang from a blueprint, and complain that even a gunpowder formula lacked “enough punch.” Stranger still, a streak of golden light kept chasing them across the sky; a farmer's daughter they'd just rescued had a power sealed inside her capable of destroying the world; and a fortune-teller calling himself “Taibai” sneaked into their estate in the middle of the night and knelt before his father, calling him “Your Majesty.”

Only then did Zhao Lang realize: the old man he'd picked up wasn't some ordinary codger. He was the ruler of the Three Realms, descended to the mortal world to undergo tribulation! Heaven was caught in an internal power struggle, the Old Lord had usurped the throne, and not one of the gods and Buddhas could be trusted. His father needed him for protection, the world needed him to defend it, and even the girl who might run amok and destroy the world at any moment could only be stopped by him.

So why bother farming? Time to rebel! He'd start by reforming Heaven: auditing the books, fighting corruption, and introducing performance reviews. Zhao Lang knew modern management inside and out.

Immortals, are you ready to welcome your “Retired Emperor”?
