Journey to the West: Speeding Up the Quest for Scriptures!

A frog in a well, the lowliest upasika in Spirit Mountain.

For three hundred years, she knelt and scrubbed the lotus dais. The Buddhas never once looked her way.

For three hundred years, she kept her ambition hidden, waiting for an opportunity.

At last, one day, the Tathagata asked her, “Have you ever thought that one day you might sit up there?”

The brief flash in her eyes did not escape the Tathagata.

She swallows a seven-colored pill and binds herself to a scripture-protection System: the faster she clears each tribulation, the greater the reward. Succeed, and she rises step by step; fail, and her soul is obliterated.

She has only one task: make the pilgrimage team move at breakneck speed and deliver Jin Chan Zi to Spirit Mountain before the Tathagata reincarnates.

From then on, an inconspicuous nun joins the pilgrimage west.

Elder Jinchi kneels and offers up his kasaya, Zhu Bajie volunteers to capture demons and submit, Red Boy puts on an Oscar-worthy act and pretends to die, the Nine-Headed Dragon obediently hands over his treasures, and the Green Ox Spirit plays along in “The Case of the Stolen Magical Treasure”...

Everyone is following her script.

The Heavenly Court's secret agents haven't even realized what's happening before Tang Sanzang is already far down the road.

She completes the Eighty-One Tribulations in half the allotted time.

When she returns to Spirit Mountain, the Buddhas finally realize that the woman who used to scrub the lotus dais is now standing atop it.

“What is your name?”

“This humble nun is Jing Di Wa.”

“From this day on, you shall be called...”
