The Demon Star Proves the Dao: From Liangshan Marsh to the Hall of Divine Mists

In the Age of Declining Dharma, gods and Buddhas have grown corrupt. The Book of Life and Death in the Underworld has mysteriously gone blank, and 108 crimson meteors have fallen into the mortal world. They are “demon stars” born from fragments of the stones Nuwa used to mend the heavens, and pawns in the struggle between the Celestial Court and Spirit Mountain.

Beneath the Hall of Loyalty and Righteousness at Liangshan Marsh, the head of the ancient god Xing Tian lies sealed away. On Jingyang Ridge, the White Tiger Star Lord curses the tiger-slaying hero with a fate marked by the Seven Killings. In Cangzhou, a pool of blood churns as Chi You’s remnant soul is reborn through Li Kui’s twin axes. The Buddha’s bone relic bestowed by the Nine Heavens’ Mysterious Maiden sprouts a world-ending black lotus in Song Jiang’s heart...

The gods and Buddhas see them as seeds of disaster: the Celestial Court issues the “Star-Hunting Edict,” Spirit Mountain lays the Golden Cicada Tribulation, human-flesh buns are mixed into Granny Meng’s soup, and the River of Forgetfulness floods back into the mortal world. The demonic path covets them as weapons: Wutian’s remnant soul lies dormant inside Fang La, Gonggong’s broken horn awakens an ancient deluge, and the Asura King descends with the map of the Earthly Fiends.

This is a defiant war in which mortals slay gods:

Lu Zhishen uproots the weeping willow, snapping the seal of the Buddha’s Five-Finger Mountain;

Lin Chong flees through a snowy night, his spearpoint piercing the White Tiger Star Lord’s decree;

Wu Song captures Fang La single-handedly, but what he tears apart is Wutian’s twin souls of good and evil...

When the Investiture of the Gods reappears in the Hall of Loyalty and Righteousness, and the Golden Cudgel cries out from the Eastern Sea, the 108 demon stars finally awaken. The so-called Heavenly Dao is nothing but a lie woven by gods and Buddhas; the so-called fate is destined to be crushed by the mortal spirit of valor and loyalty.

From Liao’erwa to the Hall of the Jade Emperor, from the Book of Life and Death to the Gate of Guixu, this band of “demons” rejected by gods and Buddhas will rewrite the laws of the Three Realms amid blood and fire. And in the shadows, a pair of fiery golden eyes watches everything. The stone coffin of the Great Sage Equal to Heaven has cracked open for the first time on Flower-Fruit Mountain...
