Journey to the West: The Venerable King of the Relics

The Tathagata passes into Nirvana, and a new ruler takes over the Three Realms.

The Demon Buddha Wutian rules the Thirty-Third Heaven, and all the gods and Buddhas are imprisoned.

The only hope of saving the world from calamity is none other than Sun Wukong, newly honored as the Victorious Fighting Buddha.

He plunges into a labyrinth of schemes to find the reincarnated child, and traverses the Three Realms to gather the ancient relics.

Then he discovers that the final seventeen relics are none other than himself.

“If I do not descend into hell, who will?”

As the golden cudgel stirs the heavens one last time, and the Buddha's light sets the final darkness ablaze,

everyone will remember: after the Great Sage Equal to Heaven came the Buddha of the Great Sage's Relics, whose light shines through the ages.
