The Only One I’ll Ever Love

I was the first emperor's chosen chief minister, a scholar from a humble family. He was the all-powerful ruler. We were classmates in our youth, rivals in the game of power, and secretly in love. In court, every move was fraught with danger, and he once personally pushed me into a dead end. When the new policies met resistance and the regional warlords rebelled, I risked my life to remonstrate, and he braved the snowy night alone to save me. Behind our struggle for power were two hearts that could neither draw close nor bear to part. When the mystery of my birth was revealed, he trembled with a sword in his hand, and I burned the imperial edict to protect him. In this life, we saved each other through love and strife. We would govern the realm together and never abandon each other, in life or death, until at last we could say: You are the only one I will ever love.
