I Rewound One Hour, and the Nation Recruited Me

Zeng Shiyu is a librarian who only wants a quiet life. Then, suddenly, she gains the ability to see deaths an hour before they happen.

Touch a railing, and she sees an old man tumble down the stairs. Brush against an ancient book, and she foresees a fire in the library. Pass by a bridge, and she witnesses 87 people drown in the river below. After each vision, she can rewind time by an hour and change the tragedy, but the price is excruciating headaches, nosebleeds, flashes of memory, and a life that grows shorter by the day.

After saving the 87th person, she hears a knock at her door late one night. It is the Ninth Division of the National Special Operations Bureau.

The gentle, refined “Sister Wen” hands her a contract:

An annual salary of 600,000 yuan plus a talent apartment in a major city

A ministry-level medical team to treat her side effects

A permanent government post, with state protection for her parents

Job description: “You only need to look at the data in the command center”

Zeng Shiyu signs, thinking she has found a place to belong.

Until she discovers that:

The so-called “data analysis” means ranking death alerts across the country by priority, deciding “who to save and who to leave behind”

The two extra people she saved without authorization were assessed as “costing more to intervene than the losses warrant”

And her file reads:

Codename: Tracing the Light

Value rating: Class A (strategic asset)

Control recommendation: Psychological intervention may be used if necessary
