Journey to the West: Reborn as the Handsome Monkey King, I Turn the Story Upside Down

Overworked office drone Lin Mo died suddenly and transmigrated into the body of the stone monkey in the world of Journey to the West. He thought the pilgrimage was a battle against demons and monsters, but gradually discovered that the most terrifying things were never the monsters. They were the greed and betrayal buried deep in people's hearts.

Along the pilgrimage, the darkness of human nature was exposed layer by layer. Tang Sanzang seemed compassionate, but was secretly obsessed with becoming a Buddha, willing to sacrifice the bonds between master and disciples to achieve his goal. Behind Bajie's laziness was selfish scheming, and he repeatedly betrayed the others in secret. Sha Seng's loyalty was a disguise; burdened by a secret no one knew, he quietly gathered the pilgrims' vital essence. Even the modern knowledge he relied on became a tool others used against him. Patriarch Bodhi's teachings were shackles, Zixia's tenderness was a trap, and the Bull Demon King's alliance was exploitation. The appearance of the Six-Eared Macaque was merely a reflection of the darkness in people's hearts, laying bare the struggles and desires within Lin Mo himself. This pilgrimage had never been a path of cultivation. It was a trial of human nature. Demons and monsters could be defeated, but once a person succumbed to the darkness in their own heart, there was no turning back. To preserve his soul in this contest of human nature, he had no choice but to hold fast to who he was.
