Jiangshi World: Uncle Nine Is My Master

Fan fiction. Spin-off. Uncle Jiu + charity cemetery + Taoist priest + Corpse King + coming of age + no System + cultivation + sly schemer. In the early years of the Republic, warlords battle for control while British concession forces expand toward the New Territories. Renjia Town, a vital transportation hub, becomes a place where East meets West and old clashes with new. Foreign trading houses and churches stand alongside teahouses and charity cemeteries, an eerie coexistence. The charity cemetery presided over by Uncle Jiu is a rare haven of peace in these turbulent times. He has three disciples: Lin Feng, the son of his senior brother, who carries an unexplained bloodline; the quick-witted Qiusheng, who came to make a living; and the honest, loyal Wencai, whose reactions have been slow ever since a childhood scare. The three study Taoist arts under Uncle Jiu and help maintain the balance between yin and yang in the area.

That balance is shattered when merchants from the British concession forcibly seize land. Their efforts to level hills and fill in ponds sever Renjia Town's century-old geomantic lifeline. Afterward, corpses rise again and again at the mass grave, while rumors spread that a “vampire” is attacking people at the church. Panic grips the town. Uncle Jiu and his disciples rush from one crisis to another, barely keeping up.

To make matters worse, the sinister corpse energy agitates the unexplained bloodline inside Lin Feng, while dark blue-black corpse spots quietly appear on Wencai's neck. Meanwhile, Shi Jian, Maoshan's senior disciple, is steadily growing more influential in the provincial capital; the corpse-driving business of Uncle Jiu's junior brother, Taoist Simu, is being obstructed; and the Gu techniques at Zhegu's clinic have also sensed something amiss.

Warlords, foreigners, corrupt Taoists, a century-old Corpse King, and other forces are secretly entangled, and a conspiracy is beginning to emerge. As the secret beneath the church, the truth about the ancient tomb at the mass grave, the mystery of Lin Feng's bloodline, and the source of Wencai's corpse spots converge into a deadly curse, Uncle Jiu and his disciples must face not only trials of Taoist skill, but also difficult choices about their own humanity. They have far more to protect than a single charity cemetery.
