After My Cat Became a Spirit, It Wanted Me to Be Its Wife

At twenty-four, illustrator Bai Heng lives alone in an old apartment building. One day, she takes in a badly injured black cat. Three days later, a man in pajamas appears in her home, calls her his wife, and reports her to the police while reciting the Marriage Law. It turns out he is Mo Jue, a thousand-year-old cat demon who died fighting for her in their past life and has taken human form to protect her in this one. But whenever he sees her, he turns into a complete fool, and all his mind-reading and teleportation powers stop working. The modern city hides supernatural mysteries. Animals can cultivate for a hundred years and take human form, but they must complete a “cycle of cause and effect.” She doesn’t believe in ghosts or gods, yet keeps ending up in humiliating situations: the neighbors suspect she has a split personality, strange shadows appear at the office, and the whole building hears her arguing in the middle of the night. He secretly changes her fortune and wards off disasters, only to be mistaken for a stalker. He uses a Republic-era silver dollar as his secret stash, and his ID card is issued under the cat clan’s regulations. Then her ex-boyfriend returns with a child. Mo Jue suffers a backlash while saving the child. The Demon Sealing Bureau hunts him down, and he faces heavenly tribulation. At last, she remembers... That single cry of “General” had been buried for five hundred years.
