Blood-Red Hong River: A Silent Vow

In 1979, the situation along the Sino-Vietnamese border changed dramatically. Lin Xiangnan, platoon leader of the Dagger Company, was a bookish officer his comrades mocked as “Lin Daiyu.” Shi Potian, the company commander, was an iron-willed veteran who faced death without fear. Amid the flames of war, the two moved from opposition to understanding, and ultimately, Lin used his life to give meaning to a soldier’s oath. Tracing its way through a photograph and three farewell letters, the story reveals the tangled grievances between two generations, spanning twenty years. Amid the artillery fire and smoke along the Red River, it gives voice to a heroic anthem of loyalty, sacrifice, and redemption.
