The Lowest of the Low in the Mire

Fu Kailong, nicknamed Brother Long, is a construction foreman in one of Yuzhou City's urban villages. The hopes he built with fifteen years of hard work are crushed overnight when his brother Zhao Laosan joins forces with the Black Tiger Gang. Construction materials are swapped, workers are badly injured, and the project funds are swallowed up. A 3-million-yuan loan at exorbitant interest looms over him, his mother with terminal lung cancer is critically ill after her medication is stopped, and Scarface Qiang humiliates him in public by dumping a bucket of filth on him and sneering, "A poor wretch like you thinks you can get in my way?"

At their lowest point, childhood friend Wang Pangzi, greedy but loyal, and courier Li Shouhou, timid but quick-witted, stand by them. The three ordinary men from the bottom of society swear an oath of brotherhood. Relying on the grit and fighting skills he honed at construction sites, Brother Long enters underground boxing matches to earn life-saving money. He brings together migrant workers and street vendors to form a grassroots alliance and take on the local gangsters. Wang Pangzi builds a network of contacts through his snack stall, gathering intelligence and setting traps for spies. Li Shouhou uses his courier's knack for routes to steal account books and scout hideouts, transforming from a coward into a brave man.

From taking refuge beneath a bridge to making a name for himself in the boxing ring, from turf wars to infiltrating the gangs, and from breaking through in business battles to joining forces to root out organized crime, they expose the real estate industry's dark dealings and topple the officials protecting them. With brotherhood as unyielding as steel and concrete, they take on the corrupt tide of "money makes the world go round." When Brother Long holds evidence of the gang's smuggling and roars "People at the bottom deserve dignity too!" before the inspection team, a sweeping crackdown on organized crime across Yuzhou is set ablaze by the revenge of three ordinary men.

This is a satisfying tale of underdogs rising to the top. There are no fantasy cheat powers, only hard-hitting resistance and a bond forged through life and death. See how Brother Long, a construction foreman, leads his brothers out of the mire and tramples gangsters, traitors, and their protectors underfoot, living with the unyielding backbone of a man from the bottom of society!
