Heavenly Court Trial: The Scumbag Fell for My Substitute

The heroine, Si Ming, is the guardian of the Three Lives Stone in the celestial realm. She and the heavenly general Xuan Cang have been in love for ten thousand years. On the eve of their wedding, however, Xuan Cang cuts out Si Ming's immortal bone with his own hands and gives it to A Yao, a mortal woman who looks just like her. Only then does Si Ming realize that Xuan Cang has long been unfaithful, and that A Yao is actually a “Heavenly Secret puppet” with no emotions, capable only of imitation.

Heartbroken, Si Ming is stripped of her divine rank and thrown into the perilous “Ascension Trial Game” to fend for herself. But after ten thousand years guarding the Three Lives Stone, she has gained a keen understanding of emotions and human nature. She repeatedly sees through puppets disguised as players, and discovers that this is not merely a trial, but a vast experiment on human nature.

The mastermind behind the game is the high goddess Jinghong, who has long been jealous of Si Ming and wants to replace the “emotional” gods with puppets of “absolute reason.” She joins forces with the demon clan, which seeks to overthrow the order of the celestial court, and treats all living beings as pawns. Si Ming carefully navigates the brutal game and meets Ling Guang, the son of the Celestial Emperor, who has been banished to the mortal realm and disguised as an ordinary player. From suspicion to alliance, the two fight back against ever more powerful puppets and increasingly perilous stages. In the end, they expose Jinghong's conspiracy and discover that the scoundrel Xuan Cang had long ago been brainwashed by Jinghong and made part of her experiment. At last, Si Ming reforges her immortal body, takes charge of the laws of heaven, and clears the celestial court of its shadows.
